RESOUNDING ECHOES: From August 2022, Robert McCarney's regular series features little-known twentieth century classical composers.
Krzysztof Chorzelski was born in Warsaw in 1971 and won the Wronski Solo Violin Competition in 1992 in the same city. He has recorded for Polish Radio and the BBC, and has performed as a concerto soloist and recitalist in Europe.
He plays with the Belcea Quartet and the Razumovsky Ensemble, and has played as guest violist with the Alban Berg Quartet. He is a frequent guest at various international music festivals.
He is also pursuing a conducting career. His recording of Ittai Shapira's Violin Concerto Concierto Latino with the London Serenata Orchestra and the composer as soloist was released in May 2011 on the Champs Hill Records label.
He teaches at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, and also returns regularly to Warsaw to teach at the Chopin Academy and the Elsner Music School.
