Flavio Testi

Italian composer and musicologist Flavio Testi was born in Florence on 4 January 1923, and studied with Gedda and Peracchio at Turin's Conservatory and also studied for an arts degree at Milan University.

His dramatic and expressive music was strongly influenced by Stravinsky, and also, especially in the subject matter he chose, by Marxism.

Whilst composing, he worked for publishers Suvini Zerboni and Ricordi and also for RAI, working on radio projects. Later he taught at the conservatories in Padua, Milan and Florence.

Testi died in Milan on 14 January 2014, aged ninety-one.
