Angelin Preljocaj

French choreographer and dancer Angelin Preljocaj was born in Sucy-en-Brie in south-eastern Paris on 19 January 1957 to Albanian parents, five days after they escaped from the then-communist country.

He studied with Merce Cunningham in New York and danced for Dominique Bagouet in Montpelier before founding his own dance company Ballet Preljocaj in 1984.

He has created more than fifty choreographic works, collaborating with other artists in various fields. His first full-length feature film, Polina, danser sa vie, made with Valérie Müller, was released in 2016.
