Venezuelan musician, arranger and teacher Benjamín Brea was born in Galicia, Spain, on 18 September 1946. He studied in Caracas with Vicente Emilio Sojo.
Although associated mostly with jazz, he also played classical, folk, latin and pop music on a wide variety of instruments, including all members of the sax and flute families, plus oboe, clarinet and bass clarinet. He was a member of the Radio Caracas Television Orchestra and the Philharmonia Orchestra of Caracas.
He died in Caracas on 23 April 2014, aged sixty-seven.
