English composer Margaret Rizza was born in 1929. She studied in London at the Royal College of Music and at the National School of Opera, then in Siena and Rome. For twenty-five years she worked as an opera singer under her maiden name, Margaret Lensky, performing at many major operatic venues, and for conductors such as Bernstein, Britten and Stravinsky. She taught singing at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama from 1977 until 1994, and didn't begin to write music until 1997. Her music is predominantly choral.
