Dutch violinist and viola player Janine Jansen was born in Soest on 7 January 1978 into a family of musicians. She began to study violin aged six, and studied with Boris Belkin, Philippe Hirschhorn and Coosje Wijzenbeek.
Based in Utrecht, where she founded her own chamber music festival, she records for Decca Classics and performs internationally, including in Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, UK and USA.
